Public Speaking : No More "Um"s and "Uh"s in Your Speeches

People often get nervous throughout their speeches. But, most of the time they don’t notice that they say them. Here are a few things eliminate this habit:
1. Practice
It’s important for the speaker to understand the material well. A well-rehearsed speech and practice out loud will help you avoid to think “on the spot” during your speech.
2. Record Yourself
You can record yourself while practicing. This way you can hear where you tend to “Um” the most. Then, you’ll know when they’re most likely to occur so you can avoid them before you say it.
3. Pause
when you’re about to use the filler word.
As soon as you’re about to use “Um” or
“Uh”, you can simply pause. Let the filler word is replaced by the silence and
you can continue to speak. Pausing can also helps you to emphasize a point and
can add impact to your speech.Um’
Using “Um”s and “Uh”s in speeches is
nothing to worry about. But, the second you use “Um”s and “Uh”s it’s when your
audience stop paying attention. Fix what you can and keep on practicing!
